Head Gasket on 99 Cavalier
2.2 L motor, any tipps you car guys have? Never done one on a car before.

piece of cake bro.. if you understand how to torx the head back down thats the hard part.. Not sure on the cavy if the head bolts need to be changed or not but most of the time they tell yah to.. i wouldnt worry about it personaly but make sure your head bolts go back in the same whole it came from.. Is the head getting worked on or is the gasket just shit the bed? warped? cracked?

Gasket shat all over my mommas bed. Coolant in oil an exhaust.... this car is a royal pain in the ass.

Go to a Chev dealer and buy a "valve grind kit", it will come with a head gasket, and every seal above it. Buy head bolts!!!
I guess check with part source about the valve grind kit, if they offer it, good chance it will save you a couple bucks.
Maybe get the head checked out by a machine shop....Depending on how badly it was overheated or how many times, it is possible for the head to warp.
