Default Calgary Police Traffic Enforcement Poll

Hi,

Doing a bit of comparative research here, so please vote in the poll. Only vote if you've been pulled over for a traffic related offense either on your motorcycle or in your modded car.

Please offer an explanation, and again, don't pick #2 if you're just bitching about getting caught.

Not for speeding but I got pulled over on my bike for a burnt out tail light at night.
Officer just told me to go home and not ride again until I got it fixed.

I've had a speeding ticket but it was not only an unmodded car I was in.... but not even in Calgary.

I got pulled over doing about 90 in a 50 on 16th ave and he just gave me a ticket for removing my reflectors. The trick is to be polite and respectful to the Cops and they will usually give you a break if the you are dealing with a male Cop. If you are dealing with a female Cop, it is a uphill battle to get a break. LOL

Got pulled over doing 223 in an 80 Zone in my Camaro when i was 18. Got arrested, car impounded, fined 1000 bucks and lost my license for 6 months. Only reason i only got the 1000 fine was because i agreed to the suspended license for 6 months. Otherwise would have been 1 month suspension and 5000 fine. Didnt need my lisence at the time anyways as i was headed up north to work in a camp for 6 months. worked out great. Cop came to court and helped me get the plea for reduction of fine and greater suspension. Said i cooperated with him very well that evening and was very polite.

1) doing 80 in a 50, vs a mustang from BC up 16th ave just west of Deerfoot, where they always have that speed trap (right by the trailer park). I was squiding in a low cut shirt... cop walked out into the middle lane, where I was, stopped me, pulled the car over that was in the left lane, and waved me off.

2) i did a little traffic hopping coming off of a light, about 10 blocks away from my house late one night. Just as I had gotten around the last car, I saw that there was a cop coming the other way. Ugh. So, I rode nicely for a bit, looking back to see if he was turning around. I didn't see him pull a U-y, but as I turned down my block, a car was following me. I pulled in to my spot, and sure enough, cop car pulls up in front of me. He rolled down his window and started talking to me, but I politely asked him to wait one second because I couldn't hear him with my ipod in and my helmet on. Took all that off, and my jacket, and I leaned down into his window, to have a brief conversation of:
"You know, the next time you want to speed, you might want to wait until there aren't any cops around."
"Gosh, Officer, I was watching my speedo, and I was staying under 50."
"At any rate, ride safely."
"Have a good night, sir!"

ahh, titties. getting me out of tickets since 2001.

I recently got pulled over right where Kat did on 16th Ave. 78kph in a 60 zone. The wife and I were on our way to Banff for a short honeymoon. It was not untill after we had got the ticket and drove away that I noticed the wife had handed him the insurance and registration for her dirt bike by accident. He must not have even looked at it.

I cant complain. I was speeding, I know there is always cops there, and he was very polite as I was also. $113 is a pretty cheap ticket too.

That's it, you're riding with me from now on when I go out so I can use you as a buffer between me and the police! (Hint: you better wear something super sexy too).

Pulled over with a buddy .... doing 150 just outside cochrane.

The RC decided he hated being a cop and let me know his gsxr-1 has a hard time staying the speed limit and let meoff because im applying to the police, and my buddy got a " not right helmet" fine of 40 bucks....and also hauled back to do a DNA test fun times.

You'd actually fit in well at the CPS, in turn, the CPS would fit in well with you.

I got pulled over once doing 128 in a 80 zone. I just got the wheels balanced on my Ford Focus Station Wagon, so I wanted to see if the shake was gone.

Cop gave me a ticket, but there was no date on it. So I got the ticket quashed. I believe he did that on purpose, and is actually the coolest cop ever.

Got accused of doing 160 in a 60. Cop was on the other side of the street with a median in between us; he guess my speed basically ( i also got an estimated ticket). Took my bike because he said he had to go 160 km/h and couldn't keep up with me, yet there I was pulled over because he caught up to me. Then lectured me and said I didn't know anything about my bike because he had been riding for 20 years and his harley still surprised him, he didn't want to have to be the one to tell my mom I had been injured....etc.

Went to court, stated my case that I was going 100. Got a ticket for 110 which ended up being 200 dollar or so ticket. I asked for no demerits which I was granted.

Judge took my license for 2 weeks then told me I did a great job defending myself. All was good because I left for mexico for 2 weeks the next day.
